Cromatografía de gases como herramienta de estudio de la composición química y capacidad antioxidante de especies vegetales ricas en timol y carvacrol, cultivadas en Colombia

Resumo: Se determinó por cromatografía de gases acoplada a espectrometría de masas (GC-MS) la composición química de extractos y aceites esenciales (AE) aislados por destilación-extracción simultánea con solvente (SDE), extracción con fluido supercrítico (SFE) e hidrodestilación asistida por la radiación de microondas (MWHD), de especies vegetales pertenecientes a las familias Lamiaceae (Thymus vulgaris, Plectranthus amboinicus, Satureja brownei y Origanum majorana) y Verbenaceae (Lippia origanoides y Lippia micromera). La capacidad antioxidante de los aceites esenciales con alto contenido de timol y carvacrol, de las especies T. vulgaris, P. amboinicus, L. origanoides y L. micromera, se determinó usando los ensayos de decoloramiento del catión-radical ABTS+. por metodologías convencional y con dilución en microplacas, y el de oxidación del ácido linoleico, inducida por Fe+2 en presencia de O2. La capacidad de atrapamiento de radicales medida en el ensayo con ABTS+. fue mayor para los aceites esenciales que contenían carvacrol, como constituyente mayoritario (P. amboinicus ³ L. origanoides), que para los aceites que ricos en timol (T. vulgaris > L. micromera). Tanto los compuestos puros como los aceites esenciales evaluados mostraron tendencias similares en los resultados de los dos tipos de ensayo de capacidad antioxidante empleados.
