Resumo: This work presents some important aspects in the development of the technique of Two-dimensional Liquid Chromatography. The multidimensional chromatographic techniques appeared starting from the existent limitation in the one-dimensional methods in increasing the peak capacity of a chromatogram and, also, as alternative to maximize the chromatographic separation. The technique of two-dimensional liquid chromatography can be used offline or online and, for performance reasons, the last, also called Comprehensive (LC×LC), has been waking up the interest due to its high capacity to resolve complex samples. Comprehensive two-dimensional liquid chromatography (LC×LC) approaches offer high peak capacity which leads to significantly improved analytical performance over single-column liquid chromatography. In this work we intend to present some related topics in this technique, without, however, to saturate the subject, once this is at the present time a technique in great development.
