Resumo The evaporative light scattering detector (ELSD) is a semi-universal detector for high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). This detector allows analysis of compounds less volatiles than the mobile phase, regardless of their chemical structure, and it is a valuable tool to determine analytes without chromophores or that have only weak chromophores groups. This paper present the operation principles of ELSD and several examples of applications in different matrixes are given.
